Masterclass Workshop

Musculoskeletal Ultrasound of the Lower Limbs – Sports Injuries – Acute and Chronic Conditions

They say that on a gentle morning, while the sea breeze brushed the white rooftops of Casablanca, I reunited with my fellow radiologists for a journey dedicated to the mysteries of the moving body. It was not my first time in the land of the setting sun, yet each return carried the sweetness of homecoming — a warm, luminous welcome that wraps around you like a comforting cloak.

The first day was devoted to the delicate art of MRI, guided by the wisdom of Dr. El Jarrari Mohamed. The following day, we plunged into the study of the osteoarticular system of the lower limbs, exploring both acute and chronic sports injuries through ultrasound.

Together with Dr. Saker Loukbi, we led hands-on workshops enriched with real clinical stories and generous patients who offered their presence so that our minds and hands could grow. Through them, our hands learned to diagnose better, our eyes to see more clearly, and our words to describe more precisely. May they be rewarded for helping us improve the care we provide.

And in this adventure in collaboration with the IUIOR (International Union of Radiologists)  and FMC Radiology of Morocco,, one must not forget the precious support of Esaote, Vino, and Dynamicmed — discreet allies working behind the scenes. Their logistical assistance allowed our workshops to unfold smoothly, transforming theory into precise gestures and knowledge into shared expertise. Their commitment deserves heartfelt gratitude.

After two intense and luminous days, we found refuge in the soothing warmth of a traditional hammam. Wrapped in ancestral perfumes and gentle steam, our spirits finally settled before we drifted into a peaceful, star-lit night.

My deepest gratitude goes to the main organizer, my friend Dr. Smihi Abdelilah, whose kindness, hospitality, and trust made this encounter one to remember.

Back home, I often reflect on these moments shared with the elite of radiology — professionals who open the doors of knowledge without judgment, practicing a humility that honors medicine. Together, we exchanged like storytellers in an ancient majlis, each contributing a stone and leaving a little more enriched.

And while some parts of Europe still restrict professionals within narrow boxes, sometimes overlooking the richness of unconventional paths, I remain convinced that curiosity, passion, and multidisciplinary competence should never be viewed as a burden. They are treasures offered to those we serve: our patients.

So despite the hesitant or skeptical voices, I will continue walking forward — gently, steadily, without ever stepping back — to share, to teach, and to keep learning. For the collective good. For a more open medicine. For a brighter future…

Inch’Allah.
